Frequently Asked Questions....

Do I have to have driving or horse experience to join?

No you do not have to have any experience in either category.  Most of our advanced officers had no driving experience and little to no horse experience when they joined! We welcome all learning levels and we would love to teach you.

How do I join and become a member?

Simply show up to our corner (see video below) during one of our drive times wearing closed-toe shoes and long pants with an eager attitude in tow!

Can I only join at the beginning of the quarter?

You can join at any point during the quarter! We are a "rolling enrollment" type club!

How much does the club cost?

The club is $20 your first quarter, and then only $25/quarter afterwards (very inexpensive compared to the other equestrian teams).

Where are you located?

We are located at the UC Davis Horse Barn.  Enter the building through the left alleyway, go all the way towards the back of the barn and you will reach our corner (see video below).

How many times do you drive a week? And where can I find your drive times?

We drive two to three days of the week, depending on officer's schedules! Our drives times can be found either on our website tab 'Current Drive Times' or on our Facebook and Instagram Pages!

Do I have to stay for the entire drive time?

No you do not! You can stay for as little as five minutes or as long as three hours! The physical drive is under an hour, but there is a lot of prepwork, cleanup and maintenance that is equally as important. It is recommended that you spend as much time as possible during the drive in order to see if this activity is right for you.

How many horses do you have?

We currently have two Percheron mares: Olive and Dee.  For more information about our beloved fluffy friends, see our 'Meet the Horses' tab.

What fun events are your club involved in?

Our club participates in countless recreational and professional events for the Department of Animal Science, the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, and UC Davis itself. The Picnic Day Parade, as well as our Driving Demonstration in the afternoon ranks among the most exciting and well-anticipated event of the year. We also take part in events for organizations like the Rambles Apartments.

Are your officers crazy horse people? I don't like drama!

As the saying goes, there are two kinds of horse people: horse-crazy people and crazy horse-people.  We classify ourselves as the former (horse-crazy people)!  If you haven't met a draft horse person yet, come check us out!

If your question doesn't appear here, do not hesitate to contact one of our officers for an answer!
